The Window of Waiting

Curator’s Note

The Window of Waiting reflects the quiet space between departure and return.

An open window overlooks a grey sea beneath a muted sky.

A closed book rests beside a vase of fading flowers, while a distant sail appears almost lost on the horizon.

The scene offers no explanation, only the gentle suggestion of absence, memory, and time passing.

The image explores waiting not as anticipation, but as a state of reflection.

The sea becomes a metaphor for distance, while the open window creates a threshold between the interior world of thought and the vast uncertainty beyond.

Nothing dramatic occurs within the composition.

Instead, its strength lies in restraint: the stillness of objects, the softness of light, and the quiet dialogue between what remains and what has already gone.

Part of the Letters & Light Collection, this artwork celebrates memory, contemplation, and the silent moments in which longing becomes part of the landscape.
